Once upon
a time, there was a group of young lads from New Jersey (that's
a small state on the east coast, really close to New York) who decided
to take the west coast by storm. Since the currency in New Jersey
and California was the same, the boys were able to travel to "The
Land of Sun and Fun" with little difficulty (except for Fish,
who felt he had to actually purchase $150 worth of meat and assorted
groceries in order to apply for the discounted airfare). Pictured
is a photograph of the original four "C-Sprites." How
is it possible all four are photographed here? One of them was a
photographer.
It should
be pointed out that the photographer had a camera that didn't need
an operator behind it in order to take a picture. This photo however,
is the picture from the postcard of the Sea Sprite's deck overlooking
beautiful Hermosa Beach and it's likely, a photographer was involved.

. . . . . Meet the Band ........
Jerry
"Sprite"
Drums
Street-fightin' Philly Boy found "pounding the skins"
as an outlet for his inner-city aggression. Some said, the only
real surfer in the band. Disdainful of schedules.
Fish
"The Chairman"
Bass Vocals
The group's mastermind recuperating from an aggressive evening
of "pounding them down" and shocking the west coast.
Can work two shifts when needed.
Craig
"Gue"
Vocals
Colorful dresser and uncanny ability to imitate others. Claims
to have initiated and orchestrated the original airline flight
schedule on that historic first trip.
Tony
"The Wave"
Vocals
Zen-like balance of body and spirit. Remarkable ability to locate
water whether he's on land or already at a nice place surrounded
by water.
Some
of the lads warm-up before their now-famous recording session.
This is when the original "Jerry must be dead!" rumors
began to circulate.
Historical
artifacts recently purchased on EBAY.

Jenny Mom of Montreal asks "How did the Sprites begin?"
The Sprites began as a vocal trio backing
the Legendary Johnny Pompadour on the "Johnny Pompadour
- Tony Bill - World Tour of 1961." "Johnny Pompadour"
snarls Tony, "We ALL sported pompadours back then. Then
one day Johnny says HE'S the pompadour of the group." "I
knew a drummer who could breathe new life into the group"
says Fish..."We knew the California sound was an up-and-coming
thing so we made the move."
Jimmy Brolin from L.A. asks ..."Is it true there was once
a fifth Sprite?"
What a great question! Back in 1962 for
a brief period......."He didn't fit in with our image. We
liked flashy shirts... and he didn't like to wear shirts"
said Tony. "Yea" chimes Craig "He was sort of scrawny
and Fish used to pound on him a lot." Even though there were
five on this tour, only four were ever photographed together....which
continues to add to the confusion.
Can you tell me something about the "Deadman's Curve"
incident asks Heather, a nurse from Hermosa Beach, CA.?
Ah Yes. The "Deadman's Curve "
incident. This tragic accident may have affected the future of the
group as much as anything else....?
